Objective of this workshop•To explain the potential and limits of microfabrication, soft lithography and microfluidics in a hands-on, practical way. •To break the barriers that so far may have prevented the adoption of micro- and nanotechnologies by participants for their own research. •To raise the awareness of the McGill Nanotools Microfab Clean Room, of its capabilities and its availability to the entire community. Content of this workshop•Learn about micro and nanofabrication technologies and soft lithography. •Pattern proteins at sub-micron resolution onto surfaces by microcontact printing. •Use a variety of microfluidic devices and explore microfluidic phenomena, including mixing, gradient generation and immunoassays. •Attend a keynote lecture by Professor Ali Khademhosseini from Harvard University. Audience•Scientists and Engineers in any area of research who would like to learn more about micro and nanofabrication and about micro and nanoscience and technology in general. •The hands-on examples of the course are in the areas of soft lithography and microfluidics and should be of particular interest to biomedical researchers, chemists, physicists, and as well as biomedical, mechanical, chemical, and materials engineers. I participated this workshop and had the opportunity to study the microfabrication, soft lithography and microfluidics experimentally for the first time.

At the end of this workshop on Friday, Prof. A. Khademhosseini, from Harvard-MIT's Division of Health Sciences and Technology, gave a keynote lecture and I really got interested in his talk "biomedical and tissue engineering".
